K-7 Curriculum at a Glance
We offer a curriculum rich in Torah, God, Jewish History, Jewish Values, Hebrew Prayer and Jewish Arts. The curricular subjects are spiraled throughout our K-7 curriculum.

Kindergarten: Bible Stories; Jewish symbols; God and Creation; Shabbat; Holidays; Hebrew Reading Readiness I; Blessings for food and Shabbat; Select prayers; Jewish Music, dance and art.

Grade One: Bible through puppetry and drama; God; Shabbat; Holidays; Hebrew Reading Readiness II; Blessings for food, Shabbat and holidays; Sanctuary Symbols; Mezuzah; Select prayers; Jewish music, dance and art.

Grade Two: CHAI Torah Curriculum (Relevance of Torah and God in my life; text study from the Book of Exodus); Story time Bible Stories; Shabbat and Holidays; Pre-Primer Hebrew Reading; Blessings for food, Shabbat and Holidays; the Torah Scroll; Select prayers; Jewish music and art.

Grade Three: Bible Stories in Genesis & Exodus, with integration of the level 3 CHAI Torah theme: Holiness & how our behaviors bring us closer to God. Holidays; Beginner Hebrew Reading; Select blessings and prayers; Jewish music

Grade Four: Bible Stories in Genesis & Exodus: How is Torah relevant in my life? Modern Israel, with integration of the level 4 CHAI Curriculum: The Nation of Israel, The Land of Israel & My Covenant with God. Hebrew reading for fluency; Shabbat Prayers I, concepts and skills; Holidays; Jewish music; Israeli dance

Grade Five: CHAI Level 5 Torah Curriculum: The message of the Prophets and Reform Judaism; the power of community; Text study from the Book of Prophets. Jewish Values and Virtues; Jewish current events; Shabbat Prayers II, concepts and skills; kashruth; Birkhat Hamazon (prayer after meals); Holidays, Jewish music and Israeli dance; Trip to Jewish Museum, NYC

Grade Six: CHAI Level 6 Torah Curriculum: The human role in divine Revelation; Personal relationship with God; Text study from Ketuvim/Writings; Jewish History I: What enabled the Jews to survive? Ancient history through the 1500’s; Jewish Current Events; B’mitzvotav Program; Shabbat Morning Prayer Service; Torah Cantillation; Holidays; Jewish music; Trip to Lower East Side and Jewish New York

Grade Seven: CHAI Level 7 Torah Curriculum - Genesis: Family Relationships; Standing Up for What You Believe In; Deception, Struggle and Change; Finding Myself In the Torah and the Torah in Me. Jewish History II: 1600-1948; B’nei Mitzvah Prayer Review (first semester only); Jewish Identity; Jewish values dilemmas in contemporary life; Amazing stories and people in the Torah; Trip to Jewish Heritage Museum of N.Y.; Two shared “Making Connections” days with the TS High School
